Land Acknowledgement

Living on Denman acknowledges with gratitude that we live, work, and gather on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the Pentlatch, K’ómoks, Homalco, Klahoose, Qualicum, Shíshálh, Tla’amin, We Wai Kai, and Wei Wai Kum First Peoples. These lands and waters have been home, teacher, and source of sustenance for countless generations.

Because this website is about living well on Denman, finding one’s bearings, learning local rhythms, connecting with others, and caring for the place we share, we recognise that to live here is not simply to occupy land, but to do so with attentiveness, respect, and responsibility. We honour the Indigenous peoples whose stewardship has shaped this place since time immemorial and whose relationship to it continues today.

We offer our gratitude to the first and ongoing peoples of this territory, and we commit to fostering a way of belonging on Denman that values care, reciprocity, and respect for Indigenous voices, knowledge, and enduring connection to this place.
