Nature on Denman

Denman Island is small enough to know by footpath and shoreline, yet rich enough to hold old forests, wetlands, meadows, intertidal life, herring spawn, rare butterflies, resident birds, bats, beavers and a long list of native plants.

Editorial note: This section should distinguish between species confirmed on Denman, species known from the wider Vancouver Island/Gulf Islands region, and species that need local confirmation. The goal is to be welcoming and useful without overstating the record.

A community-built nature section

Living on Denman can make this more than a static field guide. Each page can invite residents to send corrections, local observations, photos, seasonal notes and reports of invasive species or species at risk.
